About Our Site

ReptileExpert was formed to offer a unique reference point on buying, owning and caring for reptiles.
Over recent years, reptile keeping has developed from something of a minority interest among a small number of dedicated fans to represent a large and growing part of the mainstream pet industry. Success with these animals goes hand-in-hand with a good understanding of their general biology and particular needs - which is where this site comes into its own.
Specially written by experts, the unique content is packed with information on choosing, buying, owning and caring for reptiles as pets, providing a comprehensive UK resource for the British reptile keeper. Offering a wealth of information and straightforward practical advice, whatever your own level of expertise with this fascinating and diverse group of creatures - or your personal favourites amongst them - there's sure to be plenty to interest you.
Aside of discussing most of the commonly kept individual species, there are articles on everything from the basics of creating the right environment for your pet and what to feed it, to more advanced topics such as inclusion body disease, the risks of zoonotic illnesses and how to breed successfully.
Whether you keep reptiles already, or are only just beginning to think about starting, this site has been put together with you in mind - so if you're a reptile fan it's definitely for you.
Our concern was that there was no single UK resource for interesting features and practical advice on this subject.
Our features and articles are written by experts - who have experience, or a particular interest in this area.
